Last night we went to the midnight service at Holy Trinity. We’d been to the church on previous visits to Tauranga and it was always a privilege to join in their services and worship. They have a great tradition of serving Christmas cake before the midnight service on Christmas Eve which added to the warm welcome!
We were admiring the beautiful sunset as we walked along the estuary last night… discovered later that the stunning colour was due to smoke and dust from the Australian bushfires….
Our house swap home* is right next to the estuary and Fergusson Park. Today lots of people were out enjoying family barbecues… or for a cycle ride… or for a dip in the water or just for a stroll like us. The pohutakawa trees (nicknamed North Island Christmas trees) were in full bloom. Oystercatchers were amongst the many birds we spotted along the shore line.
