Had an interesting day out today. Took the 20 minute ferry trip from Gulf Harbour to Tiritiri Matangi: a small island nature reserve close to the end of the Whangaparaoa peninsula. Saw lots of native birds including bellbirds, tuis, North island robin (no red breast), stitchbirds and more… Also saw a large weta.
Fabulous views on your walk but wouldn’t fancy too close an encounter with that insect in the tree!
