The Remarkables are one of the the classic views from Queenstown
The Remarkables Mountain Range forms the back drop for the view over Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown.
Everything here is of epic proportions. The Remarkables rise to a staggering 2319 meters at their highest peak; that’s nearly twice as high as Scotland’s Ben Nevis.
Lake Wakatipu is the longest lake in New Zealand, measuring 80 km and is the third largest covering 291 sq km.
The Remarkables were named by Alexander Garvie in 1857-58. They are only one of two ranges in the world that run from north to south. ‘ That’s Remarkable,’ someone is said to have exclaimed.
