A “Mean” Time in Greenwich

So many ways to get to Greenwich:   Thames River Bus, Thames foot Tunnel, Thames River Bus or the Emirates Air Line!

If you haven’t visited Greenwich yet I’d definitely recommend it for a great day out. The journey there provides many wonderful options:

-front row seats in the driverless Docklands Light Railways (DLR) train

-boat trip on the Thames river bus service

-walk under the Thames in the foot tunnel from Island Gardens

-take in the views from the cable car ( Emirates Air Line ) which goes from the Royal Docks to North Greenwich

Most people visit it to see the Cutty Sark, however there is much more to Greenwich than this ship. A market, cafes, pubs and restaurants, parks, the Maritime museum (which at the time I visited had a London Waterways’s photo competition exhibition), the Royal Naval College, the Chapel of St Mary, the first shop in the world (longitude 00.0014) and of course the observatory with the GMT timeline. The vast green park at the top of the hill gives plenty of opportunity to photograph bright green parakeets and squirrels peeking out of trees. The views over Greenwich and Canary wharf are exquisite and although tempted we decided not to join the children in rolling down the hill..
