Horror for the faint-hearted!

Our friend David got tickets for the three of us to go and hear a free lecture at the University last night. Sounds good we thought… but when he told us that the title was ‘Horror for the Faint-hearted’ we weren’t so sure!

We joined around 300 people of all different ages to hear Dr Harrington – a self confessed fan of all things spooky – take a fairly light hearted look at horror movies over the decades. She explored how terror could be a source of entertainment and how it can reveal hidden fears and desires. It was interesting enough, but I don’t think we’ll be rushing out to watch ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ just yet! I might look a little differently though at someone who tells me they are a lecturer in  ‘Cultural Studies’ ….
